In 1976, the Montreal Olympic Games was the time when she broke the record when she became the first to achieve a perfect 10, in bars that were symmetrical. In addition her score, she added six more perfect tens, and was the most youthful Olympic gold medallist. The accomplishment of Nadia Comaneci was not only to get international attention, but she also helped put Romania onto the map. By achieving a score that was unattainable, this sporting icon brought gymnastics into the spotlight of the world's the spotlight. This changed the perception of female athletes. The effect she had on Olympics was so powerful it is that 2 of her movements including the toe-on and release were designated in honor of her. Both are rated as difficult to the highest level. Apart from the Olympics she also was an athlete at World Championships and European Championships. Her performance earned her the title of one of the greatest gymnasts ever. The "Queen of the Olympics' tried her hand at modeling and promoting the sport after she emigrated from the US.
